Early the other morning when I was driving to work, I was listening to my favorite morning show (Elvis Duran and The Morning Show, for those who care). Usually I don’t listen to the radio cause I hate commercials, but week-day mornings, I love it cause this morning show is on. Well, this particular morning they had Dr. Oz on and he was talking about living in the moment, and being mindful of your life for what it is and not what it “could be” or what it “should be.” So the talk show host asked for any tips as to how people can be more mindful in their everyday and those are what really struck me:

  1. What do I enjoy about this moment?

  2. What can I do to help?

  3. What can I learn from this?

  4. How would I like this to happen next time?

  5. What’s funny about this?

These questions really got me thinking, because honestly, when being mindful, I only think of the first question… None of the rest. So now, I am going to answer these questions, and I would hope that you could follow suit in the comments section below! It’s a great way to start and practice being mindful. Positive thoughts help breed a positive life.

What do I enjoy about this moment? (there is something in every moment you should find joy in)

My boyfriend just got home safe and sound from his job on the farm which he works. The weather is absolutely beautiful and cool. The sun is out, and both the pups are safe and healthy.

What can I do to help? (uniquely powerful question. This is a give and take question. You’re trying to be different, and you’re trying to be not different at the same time.)

I can continue to make the best of today no matter how bad I think it is.

What can I learn from this? (this is going to improve your life)

That even on days that I think are bad, things are still beautiful and I can’t let one little thing get me down.

How would I like this to happen next time? (if it didn’t work out right, how can I change this so things work out better?)

I would like this to happen the same way next time because I am completely blissful.

What’s funny about this? (the ability to laugh through anything)

The funniest part is that when my boyfriend came home, he was working on training our pup. And watching him try so hard against his brother who already knows his commands made me giggle.

These questions can be asked even in the hardest times. These questions will help you to regain perspective of your life, and realize that life does go on, no matter what you’re doing. So below, or even on Facebook, answer these 5 questions and pass the questions on. It will help you to start to see life from a different perspective entirely. I will also leave the link for the talk here so that you can better understand the questions, happy listening!
