“If I knew how to write music, I would have written this song for you.” Ironically, the person who told me this (an ex of mine) played guitar and occasionally played in a band. But that’s beside the point… This is one of THOSE songs that you desperately want someone to dedicate to you. It’s a song of things that every girl wants to hear. And I had finally heard it.

We were walking down a side street holding hands, something we hadn’t done since we’d broken up months before. My parents never liked him so when we just snuck around and hung out whenever we’d go to public events so it wouldn’t be weird if we were seen together. I had just bought this album by The Summer Set and wanted to share it will him. I thought that a few of the songs were cute and quirky. And at that point, I was convinced we’d be together forever and wanted one of these to play at our wedding (obviously I was wrong). Sharing these songs with him, he had wanted to play this one more than once and then said the quote which I opened this post with.

In hindsight, it turns out he didn’t mean it. Not necessarily that it wasn’t true ABOUT ME, but that it wasn’t true for him anymore. Nonetheless, he is still one of the first people that pops into my head whenever I hear this song. He was the first to be able to find a song that encompassed me, to him. With a song like this, that’s something that is hard to forget.
