This song reminds me of my first semester of college, two years ago. As those of you know who read my back to school series, I was not where I wanted to be. Meanwhile, my boyfriend was all the way across the state. The first time I heard this song was on an 8tracks playlist, and I just remember listening to it over and over again, crying, softly singing along to the words, “and you’re miles away, and yesterday, you were here with me.” I’d get particularly emotional at the bridge, “Ohh how I miss you, my symphony played the song that carried you out. And ohh how I miss you. I miss you, and I wish you would stay.” The song held special meaning for me. I found comfort in knowing that someone, at some point in time felt the way I felt. Alone and disconnected from the person they needed most.

Now, two years later, I can happily say I do not feel so lost, but my love for this song has not faded. And neither has the love I have for Jake, who has helped me every step of the way, but especially when I had trouble getting out of bed and putting on a brave face that first semester of college.
