When I stumbled upon this recipe on Pinterest, I knew it was fate. I was bound to love these little medallions of joy, with all their chocolatey-nutty-fruity goodness. Although I am still confused as to how these are considered a “detox” food, I went with it, desiring a sweet treat that was easy to make, and boy were they easy indeed.

The original recipe for these chocolate bites comes from The View From The Great Island, and can be found at: http://theviewfromgreatisland.com/dark-chocolate-detox-bites/
Now, let’s get down to it. The recipe is relatively simple ingredients, with a simple set of instructions.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
about 8 oz of dark chocolate
assorted dried fruits, chopped nuts, and seeds

INSTRUCTIONS
1Lay out a piece of parchment paper, or waxed paper, or foil.
2Chop the chocolate into small pieces and put in a microwave safe glass measuring cup. Microwave for 60 seconds, and then stir. Microwave for another 30 seconds, and then stir again to completely melt the chocolate. If there are still lumps, microwave for another short burst and stir again.
3Use a spoon to make small rounds of chocolate onto the parchment paper. Let the chocolate fall from the spoon and it will naturally form a more or less round shape. You can nudge it with your spoon if you like. Work with one at a time, and sprinkle each round of chocolate with an assortment of your healthy add-ins while the chocolate is still hot. Make them whatever size you like, but mine were about 2 to 2 1/2 inches in diameter.
Let the chocolate set at room temperature, or put the bites in the refrigerator to speed things up.

Tips and Tricks
I used chocolate chips instead of candy bars. I bought a bag of Hershey’s Special Dark Chips, primarily because there were no generic brand dark chocolate chips.
I also used a pre-made trail mix. The one I got, Elizabeth’s Naturals is super delicious and everything in it tastes incredibly fresh. It’s a mixture of sunflower seeds, cashews, almonds, raisins, cranberries, pineapple, and papaya, which creates a nice mixture for the chocolate
Since I only made them for me, I did a small batch, yielding about six bites. This will also keep me from over-eating them!
I put my bites in the refrigerator and let them set overnight.
Take them out of the refrigerator for about five minutes prior to eating so they aren’t so hard when you try to bite into them!
I personally loved these sweet little treats. They are a great way to indulge without feeling weighed down by a heavy dessert. The fruit also sweetens the chocolate, and the nuts add a nice crunch, making them a foodie’s dream. I will definitely be making these often. Who knows, I may even
