What I'm Grateful For: Mom & Dad

Everyone says it. They're thankful for their family. But it's true, at least for me. Every family has their ups and downs, and mine is no different, but I am thankful that every time I come home, I am welcomed by hugs and a home cooked meal. My mom saves coupons for things she knows I may need and offers to take me to the grocery store. My dad finds little ways for me to "earn" some extra cash. We go out for lunch or dinner, sometimes both. They've accepted my boyfriend, Jake, as apart of the family.

As a kid, they came to all of my band and chorus concerts. In middle school, they came for every soccer game, helped me sell my fundraisers, and worked the snack stand (even if it was not by choice, but a requirement to be apart of the team). In high school, they came to my soccer games, and later my musicals when I could no longer play soccer and channeled my interests elsewhere. Now, in college, they still come to my concerts and other big events. Before I know it, they'll be at my graduation, watching me earn my bachelor's degree. Then my master's.

Time really does fly, so don’t take the small moments for granted. Whether it's a warm meal on the table or a new book when you go to the mall. Be thankful for it all, the big and the small.
