My Date with the Dead Begins

The afternoon of September 4th I was scrambling. Despite reading the email for what to bring I still found myself running around throwing odds and ends together last minute. I grabbed a hand held lamp, a flashlight, my running head lamp, a change of clothes, bug spray, my guardian angel pin (just in case), and made a pit stop at a CVS for some hand sanitizer and facemasks – I had no idea what I may be breathing in so felt it would be best to be prepared for anything. The investigation was scheduled from 9pm-3am – 6 hours for us to tour the facility and see if anyone from the other side found us interesting enough to play with.

There were four of us that signed up together and a total of 12 of us in the entire group. When we first rolled up at about 8:30pm we were directed to meet at what had been an old auditorium building for the campus. We were not allowed in this building, but received instructions about how the evening would be handled and then were escorted to the parking lot on campus where we would begin. The first order of business was to sign a wavier – basically saying you understand that should you have an “experience, “ get possessed, or have a ghost decide to follow you home you would not hold Pennhurst liable. The second I walked into the building to sign my life away I knew buying the facemask was a good call. The building was very musty; partly due to the humidity and partly due to the mold and dust that had accrued from just sitting and not being taken care of for over 20 years. The investigation team gave us a quick tour of the building we would be allowed to explore. They laid down some ground rules and also told us where some “hot spots” of activity were.

After the tour, we were walked back outside to get some fresh air. We were only allowed to explore one building – The Mayflower. The reason being it was the only building aside from the administration building that had been brought up to code as far as emergency lighting and asbestos removal went. Professional Paranormal teams from shows such as “Ghost Hunters,” “Ghost Adventures,” and “Haunted History” were allowed in the other buildings, but the general public was not. The administration building was not open to us as it was being prepared for the upcoming “Haunt” season.

Mayflower Hall – one of the most “active” buildings on Pennhurst Campus

We were given the option of investigating on our own, or hanging with the South Jersey Soul Searchers (SJSS). Being that I had zero experience in communicating with the “other side” and had none of the equipment to do so, my 4 friends and myself opted to stick with the professionals. Just before we headed in to begin our investigation, I took a moment and snapped a quick shot of one of the other buildings on campus. I later uploaded the photo below to Facebook and had planned to delete it as the quality of the photo kind of sucked (it was pitch black out and my phone kept exhibiting some weird pinkish/purple grid thing even when using my flash). Before I could delete the photo my parents told me that they saw multiple faces and “shadows” in the photo.

What do you see???

Below is the same photo, but I circled some areas of “interest” where I thought it looked as though there were faces or shadows in my photo… you be the judge!

Some outlines of what appear to be “shadow people”
