Frat Boys and Why They Aren't Funny

Pigs. Utterly crude. Disgusting.
Shall I continue?
The Frat boys I’m talking about in question? Those responsible for making such crude bed sheets and hanging them over their house at Old Dominion school in Virginia. Sheets hanging over the house balcony stated “Rowdy and fun, hope your baby girl is ready for a good time….” And “Freshman daughter drop off”, as well as “Go ahead and drop off mom too”. It honestly makes me sick to my stomach.
And what’s worse? Some people actually think this is FUNNY! I’m sorry, did I misinterpret the rising rape like actions by fraternities all over the country as a JOKE?! If I did, I apologize. Sincerely. Excuse me dear boys, please continue on demeaning women.
As if.
I understand that in today’s day and age, everyone in America is easily offended at everything that is said. Actually, I’m sure I can exhale quite nosily and someone somewhere will be offended. But I strongly back freedom of the first amendment. But not in this case. I believe in the case of the first amendment for the benefit of a population, not for the downfall. Or in this case, the corrupting of females.
These boys are merely that. Boys. And it is sad that there are males such as this that think it is alright to take advantage of women who cannot defend themselves. All we hear of these large scale fraternities anymore are negative headlines, usually involved with rape and the boys are trying to deem themselves innocent. Do I believe them? Nah. Call me a feminist, but I’ll stand behind the victim, because it’s not their fault, as many of today’s society likes to think.
Let’s take a look at another chapter of this fraternity in Central Florida. Another chapter on probation or banned or whatever it is they do because of a video with members screaming “rape”. Whatever happened to the societies of the past that had dignity, whose focus was on serving others and a mission that did not involve getting girls drunk and sleeping with them? Has our society really downgraded in a mere decades?
Yes, yes it has.
Honestly, I’m not sure if any of this is making sense. I’m just so angry with what I have been seeing. Especially these comments following this headline. Both men and women alike are defended these sick pigs, saying how funny it is and what a great joke. Idiots! Imagine if it was their daughter going to this school, how would they feel about seeing those signs? Because ten to one, those boys weren’t joking. How they feel getting a phone call from their daughter after she blacked out at their house, and woke up in pain, not sure what happened to her? I’m sure then they won’t be laughing.
We watched a video on sexual assault in my RA training two years ago. And it was video interviewing an actual fraternity that had a sole mission of targeting younger college girls, getting them black out drunk, and raping them in the upstairs bedrooms. And they all kept count, and kept dibs on targets. The interview was chilling, it was cruel, and it made me incredibly mad to think that these boys thought they were entitled to these young women.
So let’s try to change things around. Let’s learn to respect other people and realize that women have a right to what their own body does. So, um, if a girl does want to sleep with you, and she, uh, I don’t know, tells you no? You fricking respect that like a decent human being.
But then again, what would I know?
