One day as I’m lounging about my dorm bored, I got a text from Chrissy saying she found a two-ingredient recipe for a sweet treat, and we should make it. As soon as I heard something sweet, I was totally on board! Even better, this recipe required only two ingredients. So in the car we go, to the grocery store! I loved making this cookie and cream concoction because it was so simple, tasty, and I could easily see it being made again near Christmas time because the blocks resembled lumps of coal.

This recipe came from Picky Palate and can be found here: http://picky-palate.com/2011/03/17/no-bake-chewy-cookies-and-cream-bars/

Ingredients and Directions:

One 16 oz package of Oreo

5 cups Large Marshmallows

4 tablespoons butter

1. Place Oreos in food processor and pulse until ground. Melt marshmallows and butter in microwave until puffed, about 1 1/2- 2 minutes. Remove and pour in ground Oreo Cookies. Stir to combine then transfer to a foil lined 8×8 inch baking pan. Let set up for 10 minutes. Remove bars out of pan with edges of foil and cut into squares.

Makes 9 large bars

Our tips and tricks: Since we are both college students, we obviously didn’t have a food processor. Instead, Chrissy used a large mug to crush the oreos inside a bowl. Same results, more manpower. We also cut costs by using generic oreos. Although Chrissy is an oreo purist, she agreed it would help in keeping a college friendly budget. We also put the bars in the fridge to set because it helped to speed up the process.

Johnna’s review: I thought this was a perfect recipe for something quick and easy! The only downfall? It’s incredibly sticky! But the flavor is kind of worth it. I am a huge fan of cookies and cream type of items, so this has landed itself high on my list of treats to make in the future. I do highly recommend the use of wax paper in this recipe, it makes life so much easier after the mixture has cooled in the refrigerator.

Chrissy’s Review: I absolutely love anything cookies and cream. These bars were easy to make, and tasted amazing. Although they were incredibly sticky, even after setting, the flavor was worth it. I will definitely make these again, because they were inexpensive and could definitely please a crowd. Overall, I loved these no-bake bars.
