Caitlyn is a Human Too

So I know I may be a little late when it comes to this news… But it’s mostly because I have taken the time to choose my words wisely on this situation. So let me start by saying, Caitlyn Jenner is a human being. She deserves to be treated as anyone else in this world does. This is not going to be me preaching about human rights and how she deserves this or that. This is going to be me serving you a few facts, followed by my own opinion.. So if you somehow feel offended by Caitlyn Jenner because she somehow magically affects your life (even though she doesn’t know you exist), feel free to stop reading now.
There is much controversy over the Arthur Ashe award that was given to Jenner “over” Noah Galloway. People are, for whatever reason, pissed off that Jenner was awarded this as opposed to Galloway because he is an amputee and a Veteran. Now this, I can understand to a point. He went and he fought for our great nation, he has the scars to prove it, and he came back fighting (because prosthetics are not the easiest to try and deal with). He even continues to compete in Crossfit events, run marathons, and recently competed in a 58-hour death race as well. But how is anyone even able to compare the courage of Galloway and Jenner (or even the other individual who people think should have won, Lauren Hill, a 19 year old basketball player who lost her fight with cancer)? They are both courageous, on two completely different spectrums. And when it comes to the Arthur Ashe award, if you do your research, there really is no “runner-up.” There never has been, until a meme came out claiming such (meme pictured below).

And in a recent statement to MTV News, it was said that “there is no such thing as a runner up for the three major awards.” And two days after the announcement of the award ESPN put up a follow-up statement:
“The Arthur Ashe Courage Award is meant to honor individuals whose contributions transcend sports through courageous action. Sometimes that courage is demonstrated over the course of a lifetime and sometimes it is demonstrated in a single act that shines a light on an important contemporary issue. At all times, there are many worthy candidates. This year, we are proud to honor Caitlyn Jenner embracing her identity and doing so in a public way to help move forward a constructive dialogue about progress and acceptance.”
Now people, this is what the Arthur Ashe award is all about… I understand the need to support our heroes, but do we really need to put everyone else down in the process? Caitlyn Jenner, formerly Bruce Jenner for those who have forgotten, has done so much as an Olympic athlete and as a human being as well. But for whatever reason (and by whatever reason, I mean Jenner’s new boobs), people have forgotten all of this. New sexual identity doesn’t erase all of the achievements you have accomplished. There are also those out there saying that Jenner should have his Olympic medals revoked as well due to the fact that he is no longer Bruce. Which is absolutely outrageous as well…
I don’t entirely understand why everyone is all up-in-arms about Caitlyn Jenner, to be honest. Does she come to your house and make your grilled cheese the wrong way? Does she do your laundry with the wrong kind of fabric softener? Did she come to your house and eat all your chocolate while you were PMS-ing? Nope, she doesn’t even know you exist… So why is (what seems like) everyone making it their mission to put her down and destroy her reputation and take all she (formerly as Bruce) worked so hard for, away? If her life doesn’t affect your day, then I don’t see why it should even matter to you. Now in my saying that, you could ask why I’m even writing this because it doesn’t effect my day. But really, with how many people are “against” Caitlyn Jenner, even my opinion (that may not end up meaning shit) is one worth expressing because it’s a positive one.
So to those of you who decided that Jenner is now a parasite and a fame eating monster just because she took the risk and is on her way to having a vagina, feel free to go do your research (on reputable sites) and realize that she isn’t the problem… Maybe you are.
